The union movement stands for solidarity, integrity and justice, took part in struggles against Apartheid and joined the continuing struggle for decolonisation led by First Nations peoples in so-called Australia. Now we must stand in solidarity with calls to end the system of apartheid, ethnic cleansing and settler-colonial control that Israel has perpetrated in Palestine for more than 75 years.

Members in many unions have formed their own Palestine solidarity group, working to push their union to take action on Palestine, and running campaigns on issues in which they have power and expertise.

Who are we?

Unionists for Palestine is a group of rank-and-file trade unionists around Australia and across all unions joining together to campaign for a Free Palestine.

“We ask you to speak out and take action in the face of injustice as trade unions have done historically. We make this call in the belief that the struggle for Palestinian justice and liberation is not only a regionally and globally determined struggle. It is a lever for the liberation of all dispossessed and exploited people of the world.”

— the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions, Gaza, in their urgent call to action
